My anus is extremely sore right now from the non-stop marathon of break up sex that M'Shato put me through this past weekend. It's true that all good things must come to an end. Anyway, this week's post is a mainline of industrial goodies. The Shuffle has spoken and the clear message is that "S2S needs more industrial". M'Shato dropped a reference in his last post about my affinity for this genre so it's of course quite fitting that my shuffle dished out this tasty serving of mechanized melodies.
Song: Heliosphan
Artist: Aphex Twin
Album: Selected Ambient Works 85-92
Comments: This track is both ambient and beat oriented. It's always been evident that Richard D. James knows what he's doing with those synths and sequencers. Like any great producer of electronic music, he's adept at layering melody patterns to create lush textures and head bobbing rhythms.
Song: Master Control
Artist: Combichrist
Album: The Joy Of Gunz
Comments: Combichrist is one of the few bands amongst the hordes of 3rd generation industrial acts that actually gets me excited. This band knows how to do it right. Taking a cue from Front 242, Combichrist's main man Andy LaPlegua, labeled their sound as Techno Body Music.
Song: Shooting Heroin On The Moon
Artist: Velvet Acid Christ
Album: Shooting Heroin On The Moon single
Comments: Now here's a genius idea. Take a trip to the moon so that you can blast your vein with a dope shot and get higher than you've ever been in your life. I like it and I also really happen to like Velvet Acid Christ. Damn. Who would have known that the big JC's name would provide such inspiration for the dirty derelicts behind these industrial bands.
Song: Angry Butch Dyke Lesbians (psychedelic trash mix)
Artist: Sophomores For Satan
Album: Bitch Got A Dick-SFS Alternative Mixes
Comments: This is actually the condensed post recording version of this song. Pure electro-blues slop from your favorite resident miscreant and his partner in crime.
Song: Murderous (Razormaid mix)
Artist: Nitzer Ebb
Album: Murderous 12" remiz
Comments: I'm pretty sure that this remix was created in more recent years. In the late 80's, Nitzer Ebb ruled industrial/goth club's dancefloors around the world. After all of those years, I'm still diggin' Nitzer Ebb.

This is your i-Pod. This is your i-Pod on shuffle. Any questions?

This post should suck but it actually doesn't
Song: Sweet Jesus
Artist: The Bluebells
Album: Second
Comments: Oddly enough the cover of this album features bulls (probably bison) and this sounds like a bullshit male fronted Scottish Cranberries. Just kidding, this is definitely melodramatic jangle pop that needs a swift kick in the pants to get past their whiny stage. Think this was their last album though.
Song: Je T'attendrai Dans Le Vide-Ordures
Artist: Snipers
Album: Snipers
Comments: I don't know French. Rock and Roll is the universal language. That is until I met a late 30s French person (actually French Canadia) who said Rock and Roll was bourgeoisie. Who the hell speaks like that... Still it's nice to have a solid example that all foreign rock (non-English speaking) doesn't suck.
Song: Two Shades of Grey
Artist: Summercamp
Album: Pure Juice
Comments: Can you say Foo Fighters meets Bush. This was a Madonna band from the late 90s and she claimed that her roster was better than Oasis. So, is Maverick even around anymore?
Song: Bought Your Lies
Artist: The Lazy Cowgirls
Album: Ragged Soul
Comments: Pat Todd kicked ass in this Americana tinged rock outfit. I own all their albums and not one is disappointing. His solo stuff is hot and cold. So unless you like jumping in between country and rock, stick with the Lazy Cowgirls.
Song: Backyard Jackoff
Artist: The Cramps
Album: Stay Sick
Comments: While the Cramps might not turn on everyone, this song in particular is pretty mainstream. The twang is just right and the tune is downright dance-able. I will forever be an admirer of their catlogue. Now if I could just get a hold of those 70s albums. Okay maybe I am not the biggest admirer.

I am not, repeat Not! gay for Jimmy Morbid. Now let me take a minute to reaffirm Rinjo's taste in hardcore
These are all groups Rinjo and I have corresponded about over the last 9 months. He turned me onto Alloy and seriously made me reassess what At the Drive In did for hardcore.
Song: On The Outside
Artist: Leeway
Album: Born To Expire
Comments: I'm with Rinjo when it comes to Leeway. These guys were awesome live. When they regrouped back in 1993 Eddie looked like a junkie, but as a group managed to put out two more good disc's. This is from there debut, the Michaelangelo of Crossover.
Song: Emmet Hill
Artist: Alloy
Album: Alloy
Comments: This is an instrumental for the most part if you exclude Bondi's best screaming since Articles of Faith. I never new about this band until I saw a post on Slave to Shuffle. I located the disc on eBay and was blown away. This disc is hard to find now. Jimmy Morbid might like this track since it veers into industrial territory. You know...if you are looking for post-Articles of Faith hardcore from Bondi this is the place to start (and end).
Song: Ursa Minor
Artist: At The Drive In
Album: Vaya
Comments: You know, a well known fact is that At The Drive In was a serious hardcore machine before they called it quits and went onto Prog-rock disasters and vanilla alternative bands. Ward, Rodrigo-lopez, and Bixler-Zavala actually did something new with hardcore. This is probably the most DC/ Fugazi influenced track on this record. So, if all you own is Relationship of Command then get your silly asses online and buy this album.
Song: Pipe Dream
Artist: Breakdown
Album: 7Inch
Comments: Not being from NY I had to read about this demo/ 7inch for years. I would say that I liked Killing Time. Then some NY/Hardcore schmuck would say, "You mean Raw Deal?" That would inevitably lead to, "Well if you like them then your really missing out on the Breakdown demo." Which would inevitably lead to, "You can't buy it you just had to hear it." Well, Blackout solved that problem about 6 years ago. You know, it is that good. You have to like hardcore though.
Song: Sensory Overload
Artist: Bad Religion
Album: How Could Hell Be Any Worse...
Comments: When they re-issued the first couple of Bad Religion albums (what no Into the Unknown) I thought this was a complete money grab. However, it's hard to argue with the results. This was the first one I bought. I bought the others the very next week.

Video Killed the "Down Under" Radio Star
Song: Don't Change
Artist: INXS
Album: Shooboh Shoobah
Comments: Sure they turned into the biggest thing ever to come out of Australia. Still, for this song alone they reached pure pop perfection.
Song: Beds Are Burning
Artist: Midnight Oil
Album: Diesel and Dust
Comments: Not there best song but just seeing Peter Garret bump and groove. White men think they can dance...
Song: Release the Bats
Artist: The Birthday Party
Album: Prayers on Fire
Comments: Before Grinderman, the Bad Seeds, there was the Party.
Song: The Stems
Artist: Sad Girl
Album: Single
Comments: American Bandsand... blah! Fuck Top of the Pops! It's Countdown bitch...
Song: Let There Be Rock
Artist: AC/DC
Album: Let There Be Rock
Comments: Possibly the greatest rock history song ever... Let There Be Light... Let There be Sound,... Let there be drums... Let there be guitar.... Let There Be Rock!

Boston Hardcore For Your Ass!!!
Hey dudes and dudettes! Sorry for the absence last week. I'm usually really fucking obsessive and anal when I do a specialty post but I'm going to be laid back on this one. So try not to be too disappointed with the lack of info nuggets that my posts usually come packed with. Anyway, this one was inspired by the newbie, M'Shato. He called me out last week about Boston Hardcore so it only felt right to come back from the absence with some rats from the cellar (old school Kenmore Square peeps know what I'm talking about). My cohorts on S2S are probably thinking that I have a hard-on for M'Shato because ever since he joined forces with us, I've been mentioning him at every turn. Well the truth is that I'm gay for him and we just need to do our straight edge thing together right now. We are so misunderstood, being two gay Hardcore SXE men in love with each other. World shut your mouth.
Song: Wired
Artist: Jerry's Kids
Album: This Is Boston, Not LA
Comments: I just fucking love Jerry's Kids. Sure, all of their songs sound exactly the same but they always get right to the point. These guys were one of the original hardcore acts out of Boston and they had the sound and the style down perfectly.
Song: Straight Edge In Your Face
Artist: Slapshot
Album: 16 Valve Hate
Comments: This one's for you M'Shato! This song is really gay, just like you M'Shitstain on my cock. However, I do really dig the Woodstock sample at the start of the track. And that reminds me, I really need to score some acid this summer.
Song: Mind Control
Artist: Negative FX
Album: Negative FX
Comments: This band really sucks HIV patient's balls. I have no idea why hardcore fans make such a big stink about these talentless losers. They are such crap.
Song: Some Kind Of Hate
Artist: Blood For Blood
Album: Outlaw Anthems
Comments: Even though these guys are a bunch of meatheads, they have something going on for themselves. The songs are retarded but for whatever reason, they work for me.
Song: Junkie Bastard
Artist: Toxic Narcotic
Album: 89-99
Comments: Toxic Narcotic are probably one of the best known hardcore bands from Beantown. I'm underwhelmed by them and that's most likely attributed to my bias for NYHC and DCHC. Anal Cunt have a song titled "I Just Saw The Gayest Guy On Earth" and the lyrics to this song totally sum up the BHC scene:
He hangs around in Allston,he always wears a Tree shirt.
His favorite band is Roadsaw,he hangs out at the Model Cafe.
He hangs out with Toxic Narcotic,he's got a tribal tattoo.
His best friend is Joe Bonni,he's got his eyebrow pierced.
He has purple dreadlocks,he works at Herrell's Ice Cream.
He wears an "Allston Rock City" t-shirt,I hope you fucking die.
